Severe Toothache
Persistent, throbbing, or radiating pain that does not respond to over-the-counter medication.
Dental emergencies can be frightening and painful. Our emergency line is open around the clock, and our MDS maxillofacial surgeon is equipped to handle urgent dental injuries, facial trauma, infections, and severe pain.
Call us immediately if you or someone you care for experiences any of the following.
Persistent, throbbing, or radiating pain that does not respond to over-the-counter medication.
A tooth completely avulsed due to trauma. Quick action can sometimes save the tooth.
Impact injuries causing facial swelling, deformity, difficulty closing the mouth, or numbness.
Bleeding after extraction, injury, or gum infection that does not stop with pressure.
Facial swelling accompanied by fever, difficulty swallowing, or breathing problems.
Suspected jaw fracture after an accident or assault — requires immediate evaluation.
Painful, pus-filled swelling that can spread and become dangerous if not treated promptly.
Exposed tooth causing sharp pain, sensitivity, or risk of further damage.
What you can do while you are on your way to our clinic or waiting for care.
Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root. Rinse gently with milk or saline if dirty. Place it back in the socket if possible, or keep it in milk or saliva. Get to a dentist within 30–60 minutes.
Apply firm pressure with clean gauze or cloth for 15–20 minutes. Avoid rinsing or spitting forcefully. If bleeding does not slow, seek emergency care immediately.
Use a cold compress on the outside of the face to reduce swelling and pain. Take paracetamol or ibuprofen if safe for you. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gums.
Support the jaw with a soft cloth or bandage. Apply a cold compress. Avoid moving the jaw or eating solid food. Seek immediate surgical evaluation for suspected fractures.
We prioritise urgent cases and move quickly to relieve pain and stabilise your condition.
